This policy describes the information GreenPoint Square collects through this website and its planting operations. It does not replace any project-specific agreement or legally required notice.
GreenPoint Square does not sell personal information. We use information to evaluate inquiries, coordinate planting and maintenance work, operate public tree records, protect the website, and meet legal or operational obligations.
Information we collect
Inquiry information
When you submit the sponsorship form, we may collect your name, work email, phone number, company or organization, package interest, preferred location, timeline, maintenance interest, and project notes.
Planting and sponsor information
For accepted projects, we may store sponsor identity and website information, property or site contacts, exact planting coordinates, private street addresses, tree species, planting and service dates, photos, private operations notes, and public-facing notes.
Technical information
Our hosting, security, email, map, font, and content-delivery providers may receive technical request information such as IP address, browser or device type, operating system, referring page, requested URL, and request time.
How information is used
- Review sponsorship, planting, and maintenance inquiries.
- Communicate about availability, site requirements, pricing, and project status.
- Coordinate installation, documentation, maintenance, and approved sponsor recognition.
- Generate private operations records and separately controlled public tree records.
- Detect spam, unauthorized access, upload abuse, and technical failures.
- Maintain accounting, contractual, safety, and legally required records.
Public tree records
A public record may show a tree ID, species, planting date, site type, condition or maintenance history, approved photo, public location label, sponsor name, and a map pin.
Exact coordinates and private addresses are stored separately. For each tree, the map setting can publish an approved exact pin, round coordinates to neighborhood level, or withhold the pin entirely. Private addresses and private operations notes are not returned by the public tree API.
Planting photos are re-encoded before publication to remove embedded metadata, including available EXIF GPS data. The visible image itself may still reveal surroundings, so photos should be reviewed before a record is made public.
Service providers and external requests
We may use hosting, database, email, security, and other technical providers that process information to operate the website and business. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transaction.
The public map currently requests map tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Your browser connects directly to its infrastructure, which may receive IP address, browser, device, referrer, time, and tile-request details. Review the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
Web fonts are requested from Google, and the Leaflet map library may be requested from UNPKG. Those providers receive ordinary request information under their own privacy terms. These dependencies may be self-hosted or replaced in future releases.
Retention and your choices
We retain inquiry information for as long as reasonably needed to evaluate and follow up on the request. Project, planting, maintenance, sponsor, financial, and safety records may be retained for the life of the project and afterward when needed for operations, disputes, legal obligations, or historical documentation.
You may ask through the contact form to review, correct, or remove information associated with you. We may need to verify the request and may retain information when required for legal, contractual, security, or record-integrity reasons. Sponsors may choose not to be publicly named, and site owners may request approximate or hidden map coordinates.
Security
We use access controls, prepared database statements, CSRF protection, login throttling, file-type validation, image re-encoding, and separation of private and public coordinates. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Do not submit payment-card details, government identifiers, medical information, account passwords, or other highly sensitive information through the sponsorship inquiry form.
Children and policy changes
The website is intended for businesses, property decision-makers, and adults arranging planting projects. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly request personal information from children.
We may update this policy when the website, providers, or operating practices change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
Privacy questions
Use the GreenPoint Square contact form and state that your request concerns privacy. Include enough information for us to identify the relevant inquiry or planting record, but do not send sensitive identity documents unless specifically requested through an appropriate channel.
